Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform Fundamentals (CCI1999)

Course Description
This 3 day instructor-led course provides an overview of the Hitachi Data Systems Enterprise family of hardware products and the Hitachi Basic Operating System software. The course provides details on the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform system architecture and key software products available on the enterprise systems.
The classroom sessions are supported by lab exercises that provide hands-on experience with the hardware and enable you to learn the key components of the Basic Operating System.
 
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the learner should be able to:
  • List the distinct hardware components in the Virtual Storage Platform
  • Describe unique behaviors of the physical components
  • Identify the disk controller and disk unit components that make up a Virtual Storage Platform system
  • Identify customer problems and requirements that may be addressed by solutions based on Hitachi Enterprise storage systems and software
  • List and describe the Hitachi Basic Operating System software and key software product offerings available on the Enterprise systems
  • Describe the new features of the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform Storage Navigator 2
  • Create user accounts for performing a variety of roles, place users in multiple roles, and move users to a different role
  • Provision storage including Logical Device creation, custom volumes and Logical Unit Size Expansion
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage tasks
  • Configure hosts and ports in preparation for volume access
  • Describe the cache partitioning functionality in the Virtual Storage Platform
  • Describe the Dynamic Cache Residency feature, its benefits and risks
  • Describe and use performance monitoring
  • Describe and use dynamic provisioning
  • Describe and use the Virtual Storage Platform command line interface

Classroom sessions are supported by lab exercises that include hands-on experience.
