Hitachi Unified Storage VM Differences (THI2284)

This 3 day instructor-led course is designed to provide Hitachi Unified Storage and Virtual Storage Platform trained students with the technical skills necessary to implement and support the Hitachi Unified Storage VM storage subsystem.

The training describes the differences between Hitachi Unified Storage, Virtual Storage Platform and Hitachi Unified Storage VM features and benefits. Classroom sessions are supported by lab exercises that include hands-on experience.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, you should be able to:

  • Describe the features and benefits of Hitachi Unified Storage VM
  • Describe and identify the architecture differences between the Hitachi Unified Storage and Virtual Storage Platform families and the Hitachi Unified Storage VM family
  • Compare and identify hardware differences and capabilities
  • List and describe the program products? (licensed features) differences and additions
  • Identify differences in maintenance procedures
  • Use Storage Navigator to: 1. Demonstrate the ability to manage tasks. 2. Configure hosts and ports in preparation for volume access. 3. Use dynamic provisioning to create virtual volumes 4. Setup performance monitoring.
  • Execute basic Command Line Interface/RAIDCOM commands

Prerequisite Courses

  • THI1997 - Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform Installation and Configuration
  • THI2205/THE2205 - Introduction to Hitachi Unified Storage

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of Hitachi Enterprise Storage (USP, VSP)
  • Knowledge of terms and concepts associated with basic storage and open systems operating environments
